In occasione del decimo anniversario della scomparsa di Walter Rosenblum venuto a mancare il 23 gennaio del 2006, il gruppo Mignon vuole ricordare la Sua figura, molto conosciuta a Padova negli anni precedenti alla Sua scomparsa, con la proiezione del film della figlia regista Nina Rosenblum “In search of Pitt Street”. E’ un omaggio dovuto da parte del gruppo per l’amore, l’amicizia e gli insegnamenti che questo grande fotografo americano ha dato e trasmesso a tutti i componenti del gruppo che hanno avuto la fortuna di conoscerlo e frequentarlo.

Sarà proiettato “Walter Rosenblum: in search of Pitt Street” il documentario dedicato al padre fotografo. Un ritratto che va dal ricordo personale alla rappresentazione del pensiero di un grande autore del Novecento. Dal film emerge la visione di un Rosenblum che alla ricerca univa sempre una grande etica professionale e un forte senso di coscienza, tesi a reggere il suo operare. Il documentario mostra il rispetto per l’altro che connaturava gli scatti di Rosenblum e la particolare attenzione per le fasce disagiate della popolazione, come quelle che vivevano nella città di New York, a Pitt Street, nella 105th e nel Bronx.

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the death of Walter Rosenblum who passed away on January 23 of 2006, the Mignon group wants to remember his figure, well known in Padua in the years before his death, with the screening of a movie directed by his daughter Nina Rosenblum “Walter Rosenblum: In Search of Pitt Street”  It is a homage from the group to his love, friendship and teachings that this great American photographer has given to all its members and who had the fortune to know him personally.

We will be screening “Walter Rosenblum: In Search of Pitt Street” a documentary film dedicated to her father photographer. An image of a twentieth century great author, passing from his personal memories to his thought representations. The film shows Rosenblum’s vision in his continuous work research done with great ethic and strong sense of consciousness. The documentary evidences the respect that he had towards the other and which can be perceived through his shots,  with a  special attention toward the unprivileged people, such as those living in the city of New York, at Pitt Street, the 105th and the Bronx.

MIGNON è un’associazione nata per realizzare un progetto fotografico finalizzato alla ricerca dell’uomo e del suo ambiente. Il successo di critica e l’interesse per le esposizioni del Gruppo hanno portato Mignon a occuparsi anche della promozione di manifestazioni, serate, incontri e mostre di altri fotografi. Sin dall’inizio il Gruppo ha sentito un profondo interesse nei confronti delle storiche testimonianze della fotografia con vocazione sociale: dal fondamentale lavoro realizzato dalla F.S.A. Farm Security Administration, all’ineguagliabile funzione ricoperta dalla Photo League nella crescita della cultura fotografica, fino alle migliori pagine del fotogiornalismo mondiale (LIFE e i fotografi di Magnum). Alcuni incontri con fotografi “umanisti” hanno contribuito a fornire gran vigore ed entusiasmo al progetto. Le frequentazioni con Giovanni Umicini e Walter Rosenblum hanno influenzato la poetica del Gruppo determinando un’attenzione particolare alla “Street Photography” e agli strumenti operativi da utilizzare: un bianconero essenziale, seguito dalla ripresa fino alla stampa finale. Attualmente il gruppo è diretto da Giampaolo Romagnosi, Ferdinando Fasolo, Fatima Abbadi, Giovanni Garbo e Davide Scapin.

MIGNON is an association founded to realize photographic projects that aims in researching man and his environment. The critical success and interest for the group’s exposition led Mignon to cover also promotional initiatives, events, meetings and exhibitions of other photographers. Since the beginning, the group always felt a deep interest towards historical testimonies of photography especially in humanitarian organizations: from the fundamental work done by the FSA Farm Security Administration, the incomparable position led by the Photo League in the growth of the photographic culture, to the best pages of the world photojournalism (LIFE and the photographers of Magnum). The meeting with some of the “humanists” photographers offered major vigor and enthusiasm to the project. Encounters with Giovanni Umicini and Walter Rosenblum influenced the Groups poetry which helped them to decide and pay more attention to “Street Photography” and its instruments: essential black and white, followed by the photo shooting and the final print process. Currently the group is directed by Giampaolo Romagnosi, Ferdinando Fasolo, Fatima Abbadi, Giovanni Garbo and Davide Scapin.
